Today Rameer delivered the Misfits box and took the ice and cooler bag.
This is about $60 in groceries. I must be getting stronger. Years ago I could scarcely lift $60 in groceries..
Anyway chicken drumsticks which I'll roast all at once and have ready for salads, soup, curry, whatever else I fancy.
Plant based spicy sausage for spaghetti sauce, burger type things, shrimp for various meals, and I'm thinking of breading with panko, because the tofu sticks were so good. Maybe bread some chicken, too.
Lime juice for afternoons on the deck. Oat milk to go with the muesli from last week, and because I'm too lazy this week to make my own.
Yogurt to go into a nice cake recipe I'm swiping from blogger Beatrice, thank you. Also for afternoon tea on the deck. Berries with breakfast muesli.
Now a rest, then a walk maybe, and reading Trollope on the deck. This is the life!
Happy day everyone, what's your version of reading Victorian novelists on the deck?
Yes, that's right, we are simply stronger! My version of reading Victorian novelists on the deck is, never done it. Maybe I should give it a try?
ReplyDeleteMaybe your version is mowing?
DeleteI suppose one of my versions of reading Victorian novels on the deck is listening to a book or podcast through my ear buds and working on a jigsaw puzzle. That really is one of my favorite forms of entertainment.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see that Misfits provides wild caught Gulf shrimp. You would know why if you ever saw a shrimp boat heading out to sea from one of our small coastal fishing villages. You're helping to feed many families.
I bought forty dollars worth of groceries today. A toddler could have carried them in the house.
Those are the shrimp I usually buy. I'm glad I'm supporting small fishermen. Well, misfits is about small farmers, too.
DeleteYes. audio and puzzles. Sounds good.
"I must be getting stronger. Years ago I could scarcely lift $60 in groceries." -- Oh, you wag! But I must confess that I often think of when I was in university 45 years ago, and $20 would buy a big paper bag full of enough groceries for a week.
ReplyDeleteYes, maybe we'd better not look back!
DeleteHa ha ha! You are super woman! And deserving of many Victorian novels! My afternoon has been spent listening to a thunderstorm, and binge watching the new version (several years old by now) of Hawaii 5-oh. I have about 50 to still watch, and since I can't go out in the sun (or rain) from the med I'm taking, I'm happy with darkened afternoons and streaming. My goal is to finish before the first of next month so I can cancel YouTube TV...how I've been watching them.
ReplyDeleteThat's antique tv! I'm glad you found a good alternative to being out.
DeleteI took a second read of your post, wondering about your increased arm strength to life $60 worth of groceries. Then I got it.
ReplyDeleteGood! Would I lie to you??
DeleteSometimes a glass of wine on the deck is a nice treat, even without a book.
ReplyDeleteThat does sound mellow.
DeleteLove that you get this food sent to your porch. That's wonderful. Happy Cooking and thank you for your kind words about Bug. I'm just today slowly getting back to reading blogs.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about Bug, such a loss.
DeleteI love my Misfits delivery, unfailing, good quality, on time.
Good for you!! You'll have to tell us (and show us please) how the cake recipe turns out. My version recently is watching Stargate SG-1 with a breeze blowing in from the patio door and Allie purring on the chair with me. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds nice. Especially Allie purring.
DeleteWho knew inflation makes us grow stronger each year. NZ is so expensive $60 probably wouldn't buy you two lunches these days.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's strong!
DeleteYou made me laugh with your lifting $60 of groceries! Pretty soon you’ll be lifting 100! Your menu sounds delicious. My version of a Victorian novel on the deck used to be a saga on the beach. I’m not sure what it is now. Maybe a 2-hour random walk.
ReplyDeleteYes, that walk sounds about right.
DeleteI have to do something while I'm listening to a book or a podcast - weeding, jigsaw, folding laundry, stitching - otherwise I fall asleep.
ReplyDeleteMe and anything on a screen!
DeleteI don't know about trollop on the deck. Oh wait . . .
ReplyDelete🤗
Deletelol 60.00 doesn't go as far as it used to.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Being stronger is a great way to look at it!
ReplyDeleteI am determined that this summer I am going to spend a lot of time on the balcony. I don't think I sat out there even once last summer and shame on me for that. I have to figure out how to take my stitching out there. If only there was an electrical outlet I could take my sewing machine out with me.
Your balcony is great, complete with view. Which way does it face?
