Wednesday, where'd you go?

Lovely gentle rain and cool, the garden loves it

This rain is the edge of Erin, and we may have more wind and rain soon.

Since I don't like to walk in the rain, I did an indoor yes2next, twenty minutes of moving to 80s tunes, of which I knew just one! (I got you, babe, Sonny and Cher).

This was definitely a workout. It's the continual movement, unlike my outdoor walking, which is brisk, but with stops to look and listen and take photos.

So my afternoon plan, to listen to a Shedunnit podcast and stitch my linen, didn't happen, because I closed my eyes after lunch for just a minute.

Then I woke up in time for tea and honey toast. I get the Shedunnit newsletter and finally got around recently to listening to the podcast which I found on Spotify, then I signed up to continue. I'll continue later.

What did happen though, was that I remembered to take the pictures of the kantha stitched purse

You can see the clever strap, cording with a section of quilted fabric where it crosses your shoulder. And it's lined. You can see the size by comparison with my gnarly old hand.

This is an easy project for you, Mary Ann, so I hope you do make it. It's a nice gift, too, especially  if you slip a little something in.

Wednesday evening online with friends. It's all go. Except when it's stop and sleep..

Happy day everyone, I'm learning that sleeping isn't time wasted, it's refuelling.

I had ideas to talk about retirement and other things which can wait till another day. Also the insurance company suddenly called and texted and emailed to say the house estimate had been revised upward, and approved,  and they're sending me more $.

Since I paid the bill already I wonder if the contractors will be back with another bill. But I'll have the money to pay it, so fine.

    1. I'd forgotten I had it until I found it while looking for something else, usual story!

    1. I suspect the $ will go back out to the contractor. It's taken a while to process. I paid in full, we thought, weeks ago

  3. If I sit in a lounge chair during the afternoon, I find time goes missing and there is not enough time to do what I should. I don't 'wake' to tea and honey on toast. I suppose you have to do that yourself.
It is good to learn that insurance has worked well for you. If there isn't a further bill, then maybe you've got lucky.

    1. Yes, I make the tea and toast. Strictly speaking I wake to make it. I'll be interested to see what happens with the contractor.

  4. Lovely fabric on the purse. Your advice about sleep being refuelling is timely and I succumbed to an afternoon nap a day or two back. Felt much better afterwards.

    1. Yes, it feels like a waste of time if you're eager to do things but really it's like resting between exercises, it's part of doing.

  5. Unexpected sleeps are refreshing and the realisation is always a surprise on waking.

    1. Yes, it's odd how you don't realize you drifted off.

  6. Sounds like a good nap. If I nap, it’s pretty well 10 minutes, max, but it does help. I wish I could do it every day, but it doesn’t happen often.

  7. The insurance company coughed up more money without a fight? Wow, is there a blue moon in the sky?

    1. They did it for the car too, except they paid the body shop directly. In the case of the house, I was working with an approved contractor, so that probably helped. Also the fact that in decades of paying premiums, this is my first claim!

  8. Such a pretty little bag.
Your hand looks no gnarlier than mine. I am proud of my gnarls and lumpy joints and swollen knuckles. They tell the story of what I have been doing for the past seventy one years.

  9. Ah, yes. Gnarled hands. I am not a napper but once in awhile it happens and I do feel pretty good afterward.

  10. What a cute little purse!
Glad you're getting reimbursed so quickly.
Love this line--sleeping isn't time wasted, it's refueling!
    Have a wonderful day. :)

    1. This is some additional estimate, six weeks after I was paid. So I'm waiting to hear if it's owed to the contractors. I expect they'll let me know!

  11. "I Got You Babe" is a '60s tune, but I suppose people were still listening to it in the '80s, so I guess that still counts. :)

How strange that the insurance company ponied up more money, unbidden.

    1. I know nothing of pop, so I just danced along. The contractor is the one they recommended and work with. They had indicated the initial estimate might change when the wall was opened, which it did. They resubmitted and got approval.

  12. Did you make that bag? I bet my oldest grandkids would love something like that for Christmas. Do you have a pattern? I will have to look on line for one if you don't...

    1. It was made in India and brought to me as a gift by an Indian friend who knows I love Indian stitching. I think you could scope this out without a pattern. Just a rectangle, lined, folded, stitched and a zipper inserted. Simple cording strap. But I expect you can find a pattern if you'd feel more comfortable with it. It's very pretty.

  13. I wouldn't walk in it either, but the rain provided welcome relief where I am too.

    1. Mainly around here with all the foliage, it gets slippery underfoot, fine for the foliage, a bit hazardous for a walker.

  14. It is such a relief that Erin is not a danger. The rain is needed here too but we are only getting wind, eventually.

  15. Thank you for the bag photos - it is something I would like to attempt (but will I remember it when the time comes, THAT is always the question). It would make a great cell phone bag particularly if the strap was long enough to go cross-body.
Hope Erin isn't too much problem for you.

    1. I hope you do make it. I use it as a cellphone bag. It looks as if Erin drenched us then went away. The rain was useful.
