Thursday Misfits

The weather being cool enough for a jacket on my morning circuit of the development, all on sidewalks because of the rain, I did get out for half an hour good walk.

It's such a luxury to walk without cringing, just painfree, I'm not used to it yet. I hope I continue to remember what a treat this is. My body is finally getting back in balance after the months of limping. It takes a while.

Then home to various online activity and the walk caught up with me and I slept a while.

Robert brought my Misfits right after lunch.

Canned goods for the food pantry, then potatoes for roasting and salad, also to go with the fish I have thawing. Apples for mid mornings, plums for freezing, until I get to deciding on crumble or torte. Tofu for crunchy sticks, cauliflower for a spicy Will Yeung recipe, mushrooms for omelettes, eggs ditto, cheese for that tomato egg cheese bake I like. Blueberries with yogurt. Coffee, whole beans for grinding. All set.

Once everything is washed and the box broken down and tied for recycle, the delivery is complete.

Happy day everyone, some days are about tasks and maybe this is one.  I'm still intent on stitching along with a podcast but we'll see if that comes to pass. This may be the last quiet day before Gary returns..

Meanwhile a quiet time on the patio watching quite a few clearwing hummingbird moths, then I picked flowers.

Late breaking news, Gary called, he didn't take the flight, sick and will return Sunday. He didn't sound so well, so I warmly sympathized with him. He's with family and he's in good hands.

Bee lecture this evening online, from the county extension people. I can always learn more about bees.

Good to get out for a walk. We stay in most afternoons to stay cool

    1. Right now our temps have moderated, so I can walk any time. But I don't think the heat is over yet.

  3. Misfits is a feast for eyes. Too bad about Gary, but glad he’s not stuck somewhere on his own.

    1. My breakfast is fresh fruit, today a plum, and multigrain bread. Cooking!
Gary is never ever on his own, always surrounds himself with friends and relatives.

  4. It’s wonderful to hear your living pain free now.
You might need to go to an osteopath or chiropractor to get your body aligned. Having to change the way you walk when in pain can get your body all out of alignment

    1. The pain wasn't as big an issue as the hip suddenly giving way, jolting my body and making sudden adjustment vital to avoid falling. It was the main reason I decided to go for the replacement.

  5. It's always fun to find out what is in your Misfits delivery. I may have mentioned them before but if you look back at https://www.youtube.com/foxesafloat , they have quite some information about bees.

    1. Thanks for the reference. Bees are endlessly complex and so many kinds.

    1. Yes, he's really feeling the results of a terrible diet, sadly. All his relatives and friends have offered him good food, to little avail. Maybe this time..

  7. It's eight years since my husband had both knees replaced and he remembers every day how good it feels to be free of pain, so you're early in the journey.

  8. It is indeed the truth that if one part of the body goes wonky, the whole body gets misaligned as things try to compensate and guard against pain. I would imagine it takes a little time once repairs have been made to realign. And you are doing all the right things to help that process along.

    1. Interestingly, it's the other side that's struggling! I think it got tired of working for both sides. But I can walk it off.

  9. I'm glad Gary is with family if he's sounding so sick.
Fall is here if you are out walking with a jacket. :)

    1. Gary's always with family or friends, and they'll look out for him. I don't know if it's fall or Erin, because warm weather's on its way again. Summer weather here lasts well into October. Usually. But now, who knows.

  10. The RC and I went on a road trip yesterday to our favourite orchard in quest of apples. Sadly our favoured Honeycrisp aren't in season quite yet but the helpful staff there suggested a variety called 'Rave' which we'd never heard of. Tart, crispy and very juicy...winner in our books. Some flowers came home with me too and it was a pleasant surprise to see they were marked $24.99 and I got them for $14.99. Yay for me! Now I have two lovely bouquets on my table.

    1. That variety is new to me. There are so many, and only a few get into supermarkets. So nice to have flowers in the house.

  11. It may sound strange but I enjoy seeing your odds and ends imperfect food, and what you do with it. It would be liberating to only cook for yourself.
I also love that little kantha purse from your last post.

    1. I think quite a few people like to see food hauls. I like seeing the food people bring in from their gardens.

  13. That's a sweet bouquet of flowers! I've had a rough week this week but did get out yesterday for some resale shopping and got some good deals - 5 tops for a total of $4 and a sweet hummingbird statue for 50 cents. I've got to get back to my cross stitching and maybe a walk outside. Hope you have a nice weekend!

  15. Great haul from Misfits. You really do have your meals well planned out days in advance. I have fits of that and then lapse when I get really busy outdoors - when I most need not to be thinking about and working on creating the next meal. I put the slow cooker to work today with a large batch of lentil stew.

    1. Yes, that need to be in two places at once. The large batch of stew is a great answer, because you need the energy from good food to do the strenuous outdoor construction you're involved in.

  18. So good to know you are out and about and pain free. I enjoyed looking at all your supplies on the counter. I get ideas for our own shopping trip for things I might not have thought of buying in a while. I have tofu in the fridge and am interested in your crunchy sticks. I've done Will Yeung recipes too. I hope Gary feels better soon. Have a great weekend!

    1. A couple of people have tried the tofu katsu and liked it. His recipes are thoughtful and meditative but not difficult, and I think I've liked everything I've tried. I must make some more red chili oil. Have you made that?

  21. I know what you mean about being out and about, pain free, Boud. It seems that my left leg has decided to give me occasional bouts of aching again and thankfully at the end of our recent Alaska adventures. So, it’s back to the exercises once again. Your food hauls are always interesting to see and more so what you make of it.

    1. Yes, if you take a break from exercising, your body starts to complain. But now you know what to do.
I think a lot of people are interested in seeing other people's shopping and hearing plans. It's like studying their shopping cart. I liked doing that, back when I shopped in person, sometimes got ideas about products I'd never tried.
