Another marvelous day, largely outside walking, watering, picking flowers, loafing, reading
Indoors some accidental art, the shadow of the window curtain cast on the fridge.
This was a bonus I hadn't thought of when I hung the curtain.
And there's a bouquet guarded by a Herend hound
While the posh orchids are posing
Today's yes2next August challenge was only five minutes of arm weights, so I added in another 15-minute one, using resistance bands. Some of the moves are tricky for balance, and I noticed I'd improved since I last did that routine. All good.
I'm beginning to think about soon being ready for fall, after so much time outside, and for once I'm not cast down about it. I think the experience of surgery and car upheavals has made a quieter season quite appealing. And maybe new interests, too. We'll see.
Thank you everyone for your takes on work and value, always good to hear what blogistas have to say, never dull.
Happy day everyone, speak up always, especially in here, sez
Nice accidental art. Camera obscura next - projected images.
ReplyDeleteI love the accidental art created by light, nothing for me to do but observe
DeleteCharming photos. I love the art the curtain creates.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a gift. A chance sighting that I could have missed.
DeleteStill reading, just not commenting for a while.
ReplyDeleteAre you okay?
DeleteThe orchids really are repaying your care and attention.
ReplyDeleteIt's mainly benign neglect!
DeleteYou observe and note your days well. It’s a gift.
ReplyDeleteThis time of year lends itself.
DeleteIt is a great book title.
ReplyDeleteOrchids for indoors are a bargain price compared to weekly flowers.
It's a lighthearted book, considering it's about murder. Orchids flower for weeks, yes, way beyond cut flowers.
DeleteLove that "accidental art" -- both the term and the example!
ReplyDeleteThere's quite a bit of it around once you start noticing it.
DeleteSilly bees thinking morning glories are afternoon glories! Glad you're providing a nice "clean" place for various insects.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if pollen gets moved around as it folds closed. There might be something to collect.
DeleteThis is the second blog I've read this morning where the author speaks of upcoming fall. So different here where our summer lasts so, so long. And then there's always the reality that hurricanes often do their direst work in September. We get weary of the weather and the watching and it's nice to be reminded that fall WILL come and bring its relief.
ReplyDeleteThe fall isn't upcoming! We have a long season, first frost often late October. I said I was starting to feel ready for it. I doubt if my feelings will influence it much, though!
DeleteWell, in that we are feeling much the same.
DeleteMy washing machine makes a reflection on the wall. 'Accidental art'. I like that.
ReplyDeleteThose fast moving reflections are a little joy each time you catch one.
DeleteAccidental art is such a wee surprise when it happens. Sometimes we're lucky enough to have a number of prisms that appear on the wall thanks to a crystal ball thing (for lack of knowing exactly what to call it) that I stuck on top of a lamp in the living room. It only happens at certain times of the year when the sun is just right.
ReplyDeleteI love those rainbows! Such a treat. I can't always locate the source, often the edge of glass that I hadn't noticed.
DeleteWe've never sprayed our garden either. It makes a big difference in terms of the insect life (obviously).
ReplyDeleteI didn't weigh in on the work/value thing because I was distracted by the named moons! LOL! I don't really think of blogging as work because to me, work has to make money. This is a hobby. But that's just me.
Paid work is one thing. But there's work in pursuing any serious hobby, too. And people do say gosh you could monetize your blog, at least to me, and, even funnier, you could publish it as books! Speaking as the author of a published book I can attest to the microscopic royalties you can get, too!
DeleteI like your accidental art. You are certainly regaining your ground after the surgery. I always look forward to autumn and winter. This year especially.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling as strong as I ever have. I really like being well enough to enjoy my days. At this point I've had a lot of deck time mostly lovely weather, and I'm starting to feel like indoors would be nice. Wearing sleeves. It won't be for ages yet though.
DeleteA very nice post. I love being outside and allowing the sunshine to warm my face.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely when it's just the right temp to enjoy.
DeleteI'm happy to read that you feel strong. This is wonderful news.
ReplyDeleteI do, and it's great.
DeleteFall is my favorite season and I always look forward to it. I'm ready for cooler temps and lower humidity!
ReplyDeleteI'm ready, but it will be another couple of months here before it arrives. I can dream.
DeleteThe butterfly may be a Viceroy, Boud. So similar to Monarchs!
ReplyDeleteI haven’t done arm weights in a few weeks. Thanks for the reminder.
I think that's the one, thank you!
DeleteUntil your post I was unaware of Herend. I found it's website and read about it. Your hound must be worth some money. Take care of him. Woof!
ReplyDeleteHe's nice! Really well made.
DeleteThat hound looks as though he's paying very close attention to that bouquet.
ReplyDeleteHe always seems to be on guard!
DeleteA lovely day indeed, and many wonderful photos here. Thanks for sharing them Boud. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAccidental art! Impermanence. Fleeting moments.
ReplyDeleteLovely post. So glad you are feeling better.
I do love the fall and winter so. :)
