Briefly, love the moment

Yesterday evening, my honorary Indian daughter made a sudden welcome visit, because she found herself in the neighborhood, and we had a wonderful catch-up about her family and job and mutual friends.

She never arrives empty handed, and brought a bag of chocolate and Indian mangoes, the best.

And her visit reminded me that we need to enjoy and celebrate every moment we have.

Earlier I'd made Food for Fortitude

Cod baked with butter and capers,  wilted spinach and an apricot sauce.  We need this kind of food in parlous times.

And there's nature, the lavender blooming at the door

And the yellow wood sorrel undeterred by mowers because it blooms too low under the blades to be cut down.

There are lessons all over here which I won't insult our communal intelligence by underlining.

Be safe. Do what's right today. March in spirit or in person. We're worth it.

  2. As I am about to sleep when it is still daytime for you, what a soothing post to read at bedtime, and a lovely photo.

  3. So that's sorrel! I had no idea. I've seen it in the wild for years and never known what it is. So glad you got to catch up with your "daughter."

  7. I bought an entire Costco container of mangos just like that. Which means it contained six mangos. I have eaten two and both of them were beyond delicious. So decadent!
I love how your friends come and visit you. They obviously love you dearly. And you look lovely, by the way!

  11. I waited to post until after my No Kings protest here in Naperville, IL. It was wonderful and we had a huge turnout with so many terrific signs and beautiful weather. We chanted, we marched and so many cars drove by honking and waving and supporting us. The newspaper said thousands were there and I believe it. It was terrific!

  12. Several thousand people showed up at the Idaho Capitol for our No Kings rally. It was fabulous. My three favorite signs: "Don't Make Me Repeat Myself - signed, History" , "Vaccines Cause Adults", and "Not A Paid Protester - I Hate Him For Free".

  17. How nice to have a surprise visit from someone who means so much. I was definitely marching in spirit and hoping the entire thing would be as peaceful as possible. From what I'm hearing the supposed big birthday bash was somewhat of a fizzle but have only seen a couple of news pieces so far so I could be wrong.

    1. The birthday fizzle was wet, sad, all about empty streets and viewing stands. T looked miserable. As did his entourage. What a contrast with the millions of joyful peaceful marchers all over the country, rain or shine.
