Hope Springs Eternal

Bitterly cold weather, dry and cutting winds, snow now and then, gah. Grey skies do me in. But there in the kitchen, reminding me that the days are lengthening even if I haven't noticed all that much, and the light is getting stronger, the begonias are singing and dancing and showing their best pink dresses. Yay.

  1. Spring is indeed on the way, my spuds sprouted back in January, and this week my garlic, kept in the fridge, grew green sprouts! Nature is amazing, it knows when it is "time", even though we despair in the dark and cold, a little bulb of garlic, hidden away in a cold fridge, knows it's time to wake up and stretch. - J in Cowtown

  2. Having mused that nature seems to know when it is "time", I now have that song stuck in my head, by The Byrds "Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There is a Season). It's almost an exact copy of the words from Ecclesiastes 3, a good reminder that while we look to the past or the future we often forget life has its own natural rhythm happening in the present. Google the song and listen to it, a blast from the past. - J in Cowtown

  3. Oh yes, your days are definitely getting longer as mine are getting shorter - a bit dark in the mornings when I get up to do some training. Happily our daytime weather is better than yours at the moment. Won't be long and you will have lovely Spring/Summer days and I'll be into Autumn/Winter.

  4. Beautiful cheery flowers - just what I needed on this sorta sad day! Thanks.
